Sport

Sport plays a central role in school life, both for boys who excel in our wide range of sports and for those who are less gifted but no less enthusiastic. Sport offers crucial lessons in the importance of co-operation and teamwork, and it is also a wonderful tool for building confidence.

Our staff include former county cricketers and rugby union internationals.  The boys are provided with the best in coaching and are able to take full advantage both of our facilities and our exceptional location at the heart of the Wye Valley.

The school’s impressive sports complex confirms Monmouth’s reputation as a school that takes sport seriously.  A six-lane swimming pool, sophisticated indoor sports facilities, full-size astroturf and magnificent Sports Pavilion support the school’s achievements in a wide variety of team games and individual sports.

Our tradition of sporting excellence is reflected in the fact that many boys play at county or national level, particularly in rugby, rowing and cricket. Not only is much competitive school sport played to a very high standard, but there is also a rich variety of other sporting opportunities, offering something for everyone.
