Our English Literature A level course has been designed to hone your analytical skills, improve your higher-level communication skills and broaden your understanding of the human condition. It is a well-respected subject that carries much weight in university applications.

We will enable you to undertake independent and sustained studies to deepen your appreciation and understanding of literature, including its changing traditions. We will also give you opportunities to select texts which are of particular interest to you as part of your coursework. You will find yourself discussing a wide variety of texts, issues and themes, covering texts from Shakespeare, John Milton, Margaret Atwood, F Scott Fitzgerald and more.

We understand how important it is to understand the cultural, historical and social contexts in which a text is written and we organise a number of theatre trips, lectures and visiting speakers to help enhance your learning experience.
